Care Packages

*We have changed a few things on the maildrop list and will likely change more as we go.  Please look at the list before you send a package.  Thank you!*

We will be flying out of Salt Lake City, Utah on May 5 into San Diego and will begin hiking on May 6. We would love to get care packages and/or letters from friends, family, and followers. The following is a list of places where we will be and the approximate time. We have gone through this list rigorously and it is a good approximation of when we will be there, however it is very likely that we may be 2 days early or late to a place or even a week early. We will continually update the list on the trail as to provide a more accurate date of when we will be at a location but it would not hurt to plan for your package to be a few days early. If you do plan to send us something we suggest sending an email...or call to check our predicted arrival date.

*Please remember what you send we will hike with therefore items should be light and disposable. Care packages don't have to be huge. We are very easy going and like notes, cookies, candy, homemade treats, meals, and pretty much anything that can be eaten. These are just some ideas as to what could be sent in a care package.

*Please do not send toys, books, stuffed animals, etc.. These type of things are awesome but simply too heavy to carry.

There are a lot of instructions, but do not be alarmed. We just would like to make sure that if you are sending a package that we actually get it since you are generously going out of your way to show us an act of kindness.

*Letters can be mailed First Class (regular mail).

*All of the mail drops listed below are USPS addresses.  Make sure to send these via Priority Mail through the US Postal Service. If you send a box via First Class or Parcel Post, we will likely not receive it. Do not believe the Post office employees when they tell you they can have a Parcel Post box to me a week to 10 days from the time you ship it. It is not true.

*DO NOT use FedEx or UPS and if you do send a box please make sure that we DO NOT have to sign for.

*It is very important that you address each letter/box exactly as the maildrop list shows. MAKE SURE to write" hold for PCT hiker. ETA: (date)" on  the bottom left corner of all boxes and letters. It is also helpful to write "Whippen/Williams" in big black letter on all sides of any box. If you do send something, email or leave a voice message for either of us so we know to pick it up wherever we may be. If we don't know we have a package we wont know to ask for it and therefore will not get it.
